Sterling Hockamier, Inspirational Writer/Lyricist/Photographer
I started my inspirational writing in 2001. The Lord gave me some inspiration of words in my mind’s-eye and I wrote them down. The words were, "God's divine intervention is greater than man's best intention." It's true. God's help in any given situation is always far greater than we can conceive of, plan or even fathom in our intentional life. Since then, I seemingly constantly write short maxims for everyday Christian living. My new one is, "To get out of this world, you have to get into His Word." Another one that everyone likes is, "Jesus gave me peace when my heart was in pieces.” So, this is a type of writing that the Lord and I started and it's been exciting ever since. I have my first e-book calendar coming out in two months called, "WordToday (inspiring words to live by daily)." This is a 365 daily devotional, Christian calendar containing photos and Scripture references for each day. I did a lot of writing while studying at Grand Canyon University. I started there as a business student and later realized that I didn't do well in the area of mathematics. This was my weak point. Yes, I actually missed out on two of the Lord’s callings in my life- one in the area of ministry, which I am making up for right now, and the other in the area of Graphic Design. After high-school, my parents pushed my brother and me into going to college right away even though I needed some time to reflect and pursue my real gift as an artist. I did enroll in Photography and took three classes at Grand Canyon University; it was here that I learned I had a gift and a good eye for shooting landscapes, bands/solo artists and weddings. I spent five years studying and graduated in the spring of 1994 with a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Business. I was President of the Sigma Kappa Iota Ski Club my junior year and a senator for Student Government as well. In my spare time I like to write lyrics for songs and help my brother, Mason, with his Songwriting as I contribute my own style of songs to some of his albums. Mason has recorded 14 albums in 17 years and is currently working with Teen Challenge on producing his New Pop/Alternative Rock album. In May of this year he will release three new albums: a Pop album titled, "Far as the eye can see" , an instrumental album titled, "The Speed of Sound" and an album of Christian love songs titled, "When You're Not Lookin' ." All of these albums will be produced, recorded and distributed by Invitation Records, Phoenix, Arizona.
